Optimal Seeding Season is fast approaching and with that comes a lot of questions on best practices. Typically, the best times to seed your lawn is from the third week of August – end of September.
– Soil to seed contact is important by aerating, raking or adding fresh topsoil.
-Watering new seed is extremely important every day!
– Seed Accelerator: We use a product called Penn mulch, but other brands are available that retain moisture, contain fertilizer and provide some coverage from birds eating the seed.

Grasses and sedges are great ways to reduce maintenance and convert areas of turf that might be struggling with traditional seed varieties or environmental conditions (Shade / Heat / Wet).

Going into fall is a great time to review your lawn care program as well. Is your lawn getting fertilized at the appropriate timing? Is the soil compacted and nutrients are running off? Aeration and Fertilizer applications are key services that should be done in the fall to encourage healthy growing turf.
At Broccolo, we can schedule lawn seedings and decide what level of lawn work is needed. We can do new lawn installations and repairs, depending on the conditions. This is a great time to discuss other options like no mow areas. If you would like to meet with a consultant to review your property:Â 585.424.4476Â Online
